ManyprominentPekingoperasstars,includingMeiLanfang,YuShuyanandYangXiaolou,performedattheoriginalJixiangTheater,whichwasbuiltin1906.
MeiLanfang'ssonMeiBaojiusayshehadcompiledcomprehensivebiographicalinformationabouthisfatherforthedirector,includingpictures,recordsandarchivalfilmfootage.
TheactortoessaytheroleofMeiLanfanghasnotbeenannouncedyet,althoughChenhasreportedlydiscussedtherolewithTaiwanpopstarWongLee-homandHongKongveteranLeonLai.
